Thanks Greg!...

I also added a GIF version it to the regular Alfaerie directory. Just use "zebrabishop" as the filename.

Aurelian Florea wrote on Fri, Sep 25, 2020 04:40 PM UTC:

@HG I cannot use the image saved by Greg as it is only in the allfaeriePNG. It seems that the interactive diagrams don't work with files here, as I have tried to change the directory. BTW Have you understood the earlier situation where the shuffling of pieces in now also non-symmetrical?

Aurelian Florea wrote on Fri, Sep 25, 2020 04:16 PM UTC:

No matter. I had found it!

Aurelian Florea wrote on Fri, Sep 25, 2020 04:11 PM UTC:

Where in the site is the picture in question?

Done

Aurelian Florea wrote on Fri, Sep 25, 2020 04:42 AM UTC in reply to Greg Strong from Thu Sep 24 11:43 PM:

I wanted to add it to the apothecary chess standard piece set. The zebra is not used in any currently playing games but it is used in a preset. I have deleted the used Z,z temporarilly.

Greg Strong wrote on Thu, Sep 24, 2020 11:43 PM UTC in reply to Aurelian Florea from 11:27 AM:

I have uploaded and added it to the Alfaerie: Many set as ".BZ" and ".bz"

Regarding your request to add it instead of the plain zebra picture at Z, which piece set? I cannot edit a piece set that is already using the Z in other games or their zebras would turn into bishop-zebras.

Use the scalable-graphics editor:

Aurelian Florea wrote on Thu, Sep 24, 2020 11:27 AM UTC:

If someone with editing picture skills sees this, please make an zebra-bishop picture and add it instead of the plane zebra picture at z.

CC would do. (C0, LL or L0 should also work)

KelvinFox wrote on Wed, Sep 23, 2020 06:21 PM UTC in reply to H. G. Muller from 02:12 PM:

what would be betza notation for Knight then Camelrider?

H. G. Muller wrote on Wed, Sep 23, 2020 02:12 PM UTC in reply to Aurelian Florea from 01:26 PM:

That would be DmpafyafsW . That is, you have to extend the two-leg part of the Griffon (yafsW) by prefixing an extra step that can both move and hop (mp) so that it effectively jumps. (mpafW would just be a cumbersome notation for D, glueing two colinear W steps together, but here you are forced to base the move on W/F because in the final leg you want to make single steps.)

What would the Xbetza notation be for the Osprey?

I was thinking about calling it Shaman because of the mostly African nature of zebra and the religious nature of the bishop.

While the name Shaman has the advantage of being easily recognizable and understood, it is a generic term and not at all exclusive to Africa. Witch doctor is not as general and may be used for African shamans. I learned from the Wikipedia article on Witch doctor that the term Sangoma is used in southern Africa. I also checked where zebras are in Africa, and it is mostly in southern Africa.

Also I see no picture for bishop-zebra in allfairy many. Can someone make one and add it to the apothecary piece set instead of the lone zebra (letters Z&z)?

What was the name of the game containing the osprey (dababah then bishop)? I'd like access to the preset using the code for this piece and I do not remember the name of the game. Thanks!

MS Edge seems to be the browser that came with my Windows 10 laptop.

Using that particular laptop (which is strangely a bit sluggish when using its built-in mouse, even when I'm not on the internet), I was able to finally reply to Aurelian, in the game log in question. Thanks Greg & Fergus.

Edge is now Chromium-based and can run all the same extensions as Chrome, as well as its own Microsoft extensions. I got uBlock Origin from the Microsoft store, and I got NoScript from the Chrome store.
