An alternative rule for stalemate is that the player simply misses their turn. There is also the issue of what happens to a player's other pieces when their King drops out. Obviously they cannot be moved by the defeated (or stalemated if that takes them out of the game) player. I can see five approaches. 1 These pieces are removed along with their King. 2 They cannot be captured and remain obstacles to remaining players' pieces for the rest of the game. 3 They can be captured until the board is cleared of them. 4 They can be 'recruited' (i.e. change sides) to the army of a piece (specifically a King, I recommend) moving next to them. 5 They can be captured or recruited.
