I'll try to help you...  Your excellent game is definitely worthy of
support.  (Just finished getting my butt kicked in H.G.'s computer Spartan
tournament.)

I understood how to make rule-enforcing presets, but it's been a few years
since I've messed with it.  I'm pretty sure this won't be too hard. 
Thankfully, no en passant :)  It's almost the opposite of writing a
computer chess program though.  Instead of looking at a position and
determining a list of legal moves from that position, with game courier you
present the position to the user, let him do something with the pieces, and
then you decide if what he did is ok.

Edit the game courier preset for orthodox chess and take a look at the code
and see if it makes any sense to you.  If not, I can probably just do it
for you.
