Only a few times has it gotten to an endgame where players are trying to promote pawns. We play that pawns are promoted if they get all the way accross the board, but it doesn't matter much cause it hardly never happens. Only twice have I seen anyone promote to their opponent's first rank, and indeed it can only be done by capturing, lol.
