I don´t like too much 'forward variants'. The main problem is that one team can try the strategy (usually successful, if the game is played with the needed care) of moving the own King to the final ranks, making difficult to the other band attack it. I have tried this game only twice, and I was not very satisfied with the game play, I can not feel the beauty of Shogi, perhaps my experience with it is limited, but I am not sure this is the reason. Draws are difficult in Shogi, I believe this is not the case in this game.
