Queenmania
By Gerd P. Degens
For the game each player needs 11 queens, 4 bishops, 4 rooks, 4 knights, 1 king and 12 pawns.
Only the king moves by default, the other pieces get changed moves.
The game is played on a 12 x 12 board. The FIDE rules apply - with the following exceptions.
Setup
Rules
Castling now takes place between king and queen.
The promotion of the pawn on the opponent's baseline takes place unchanged.
Only the king moves as usual, for the other pieces the following applies:
Queen (5 step queen):
Bishop (4 step bishop):
Rook (4 step rook):
Knight (Doubleknight):
Pawn (enhanced queens pawn):
- The pawn can basically move 3 squares forward.
- Pawns can capture pieces on adjacent side lines that the pawn can reach in one move.
- This means that the pawn can capture diagonally forwards, sideways and diagonally backwards.
