Recognized Chess Variant: Gothic Chess

Gothic chess is a revival of Capablanca's Chess, but with a different setup. The game, played on a board with 8 rows of 10 squares features the normal chess pieces, and pieces that has the combined movement of bishop and knight, respectively of knight and rook. Ed Trice experimented, and observed that a different setup of the major pieces would give a nicer game. He also founded the Gothic Chess Association. This association organizes tournaments, sometimes with prizes of 5000 dollars or more, and sells Gothic Chess sets. The association currently has over 500 members, including chess grandmasters, and people from all states of the US, and 17 different countries all over the world.
