Eight-Stone Chess Pictures

This is the first set in a series of pictures of chess variant sets. The theme of the series is that all the sets are finalists in the 1999 Large Variant Contest. There are also some pictures of some of these sets on the web pages of Fergus Duniho (Chess Construction Set), but I wanted to get some pictures under more optimal lighting conditions.

I find the initial array of Eight-Stone Chess to be well-balanced and very aesthically pleasing. The stones are a simple addition, but provide for both defensive and offensive possibilities.

The pictures for the next set (Centennial Chess) are here.
