Introduction

This variant completes a triad of knight-based variants designed for the 45 or 46 squares contest, with Tonight and Twin Knights.

Logs for Twilit.

Ferz-Alfil-Dabbaba: Moves as indicated by o's in diagram above (can jump to second orthogonal or diagonal square).

Twilit Pawns move one square forward or sidewards without capturing and they capture one square diagonally forward. They can also jump over one another orthogonally, sideways or forwards, to an empty space.

Rules

Object is checkmate.

Pawns promote at either end of the board, to any piece (other than pawn) that has been removed.

Notes

Another one of my "overstuffed variants," i.e., with high piece density. Also another variant of mine featuring a bottleneck (as with X Chess). Two unplanned themes that have periodically emerged in my variant work. Note asymmetry of starting position.
