Latrunculi duo milia et septum

This page contains one or more presets for playing a game online with Game Courier, an online server for playing Chess variants by correspondence.

"Latrunculi duo milia et septum is Latin." It means, "Chess Two-Thousand and Seven." It is simply chess but with the dragon king (rook/ferz) and dragon horse (bishop/wazir) substituted for rooks and bishops. For those new to these pieces, just note that the game is played as is Fide chess, except rooks, instead of making a normal rook move - can move one space diagonal. Bishops, instead of making a normal bishop move - can move one space vertical or horizontal. The pre-set shows an X on Bishops and a + on Rooks to remind you of the added movement possibilities.
