Origin unknown. Pieces may make non-capturing moves anywhere. Exceptions: Pawns cannot go to their first ranks, and must move to the queening rank normally. Bishops may change color. Kings may only move normally. This was popular in California, where it was known as SuperChess. Anders Ebenfelt seems to have invented this independently and called it Penguin Chess.
