Puzzling out the hawk's move: 'It moves two or three squares diagonally forward or straight backward' - does that mean, '...or two or three squares straight backward?' Or does it move like a rook that can jump over anything behind it?

The 'Y' piece! Finally a game that makes it the theme! I was thinking about it a long time, but got distracted, so I'm very glad some one put it in play as a central theme.
