Does this variant preset still have a bug when it comes to promotions? I looked at the log of one finished game, which is why I'm wondering:

I fixed up this preset to display moves, and I also fixed a bug that was also affecting Shogi along the way. That bug was preventing promotions by turning plus signs, which Shogi and Hex Shogi both use in labels for promoted pieces, into empty spaces. Changes here should also affect the other Hex Shogi variants, though I haven't checked them out yet.

I have tested this variant using Zillions. Hexagonal variants are not of my main preferences, but I have found this variant enjoyable. Nice game play, and the original Shogi flavor is preserved.
