Fergus Duniho wrote on 2017-12-03 UTCA simple piece promotes whenever it moves away from an attacked space to an empty space. Aurelian Florea wrote on 2017-12-03 UTCDoes a simple piece promote whenever it moves out of danger or just when it puts itself in danger and then move away from it ? Abdul-Rahman Sibahi wrote on 2007-04-14 UTCJust wondering, The article doesn't mention what happens when a Knight moves to an enemy Knight's square (or to an enemy's compound piece square.) I am assuming that what happens is normal capturing, but the notes in MiniThunder Chess suggest otherwise. Fergus Duniho wrote on 2007-03-26 UTCOne of my as yet undocumented rules changes is that the Dragon King and Pope cannot move through check. Fusion Chess and the games based on it (including Thunder Chess) have been flawed by the rule that royal pieces could move through check. Although they haven't posed problems in games played against Zillions, this flawed rule could allow a player with a lone Pope or Dragon King to too easily avoid checkmate. The flaw is a bit mitigated in this game by the fact that the royal piece will demote if it captures, but the change will be made throughout the Fusion Chess family of games. Fergus Duniho wrote on 2007-03-26 UTCThat promotion rule is so easy to remember, that when I played this game on the board with David Howe years ago I forgot the actual rule and used this one. I have updated the rules of Fusion Chess (and consequently all games based on it), but I have not yet taken the time to systematically make the revisions to my ZRFs, Game Courier presets, and rules pages. Jeremy Good wrote on 2007-03-20 UTCThat's an ingenious idea, Abdul-Rahman. Even if Fergus doesn't implement it for this variant, it's still a very thoughtful idea. I like it. Abdul-Rahman Sibahi wrote on 2007-03-19 UTCGood ★★★★Sounds like a good game. I haven't played it yet, but looking forward to. The promotion rules would be easier to memorize if each piece was promoted to the compound piece the does NOT include itself. That is, N to Q , B to M , R to P . Er.. Also, can the Dragon King and Pope move through check ? 8 comments displayedLater ⇩Reverse Order⇧ EarlierPermalink to the exact comments currently displayed.
