Great! Is there other variants of playing Swedish chess with two different games? By the way, why not play Swedish chess with more than 4 players (6, 8, 10...), player can give captured pieces to either teammate! So we can join several games! My example (maybe, someone can suggest something better): Xiang-qi - Shogi - Chess (Capablanca or not) - Grand Acedrex - 3D chess - Shatar; Advisor - Gold - Queen - Gryphon - Empress - Bers; Minister - Silver - Bishop - Crocodile - Bishop - Camel (same as Bishop, NOT from Tamerlane chess); Horse - Laured rider - Knight - Giraffe - Knight - Horse; Chariot - Lance - Rook - Rook - Rook - Chariot; Cannon - Flying Chariot - Chanselor - Unicorn - Unicorn (triagonal rider, not same as previous) - Bodyguard; Cannon - Angle Walker - Archbishop - Lion - Unicorn (triagonal rider) - Bodyguard;
Imaginative! I (and many others, I'm sure) have often thought of playing Bughouse using Grand Chess or Capablanca Chess or something in place of OrthoChess, but I've never considered playing Bughouse with two different games. It's a fascinating idea. Personally, I think it would be even more interesting to allow captured pieces to retain their character on the new board rather than morphing to fit the game being played. I'd love to see Orthodox Chess played side-by-side with Shogi; imagine the horror on a Shogi player's face when his opponent drops a queen on the board.
Charles, a truly nice wrinkle. I've seen a few games of tournament Bughouse in a local chess cafe, and you have come up with a very pretty variant.
