Knight's moves are always possible. Pawns starting from the 1st rank promote on a8, b8. c..h10, i8, j8. The capture in the initial position is indeed possible, but not necessarily a good move. --JKn Charles Gilman wrote on Sun, Dec 7, 2003 11:53 AM UTC:Excellent ★★★★★Just two questions: the ones I always have about boards with concavities. Firstly are moves such as from d1/c2 to b3/a4 allowed? Secondly are Pawns allowed to reach adjacent armies' camps through capture, and if so where do they get promoted? The rules of Vierschach suggest affirmative answers to both questions, but as this would allow a first-move capture (unlike in standard games) I can see a case for the answer to the first at least being no. 2 comments displayedLater ⇩Reverse Order⇧ EarlierPermalink to the exact comments currently displayed.
