Just one more way of playing chess via email.
I had trouble finding some simple way of playing via email with my dad, so I finally made my own web page : No registration. Simplistic user interface. Play via email.
Feel free to check it out : http://chess.brouard.bzh

Email chess fans should try www.chessbymessage.com (Chess by Message).

It lets you graphically trace back through the game, and you can download games in PGN format.

Some comments:

Theinternet chess club software does sometimesz not work through
corporate
firewalls. Hopefully someone will sort that one out soon. The software in
general could do with an upgrade. Certainly not pretty, but functional.
And the players on there are great (ie someone for everyone.)

For hosting your own server we offer http://www.phpchess.net. This allows
clubs, scholls and others to run their own chess server. Hosting can also
be bought. The server itself links to pda, web-enabled mobile phones
(with
browser) and will get a client for pc in January 2006.
Features include: Gameplay (realtime and tunr based, automatic
notification, player management, administration (such as player
acceptance, skinning, languages,....). The professional version does
member billing, redemption codes and more. It's realy easy to install on
most hosted servers or any corporate, or private server with mysql and
php
(all free).

you can try it on http://www.phpchess.net/phpchess
have fun!

Free Internet Chess Server (FICS) can be connected to without any special
oftware. Connect to freechess.org port 5000. You can also play suicide
chess in here as well as normal chess. I even played against someone in
Alberta, Canada. But that server does not seem to accept backspace, and it
will not repeat what you type in HyperTerminal (even if you enable echo).
Use the other program to connect to it, then it will repeat what you type
and Enter key will work properly as well.

Hi there

I think web-correspondence chess servers are an evolution of Email chess
play. I am the webmaster of letsplaychess.com, one of the most popular web
correspondence chess servers. There is an excellent article about this
evolution on the aboutchess.com site.

Best wishes
Tryfon
Challenge me for an online chess game at letsplaychess.com

<a href=http://www.redhotpawn.com>Red Hot Pawn</a> is an excellent Internet chess server that claims over 30,000 members and does not use any special software; it is free if you don't mind ads or just $14.95/year to subscribe.

do you know a good chess site to play online chess on but for PDA pocket pc. Like Itsyourturn.com or playsit.com but for PDA.. You can not see the whole board on the screen with a PDA you have to scroll the screen, not a good way to play its a little difficult.
