I once saw the last arrangement of pawns known as a game called 'trapeze'.

I have known of this game for some time, having read about it in a book called Mathematical Recreations, but have only recently noticed a connection with Courier, in that that game also has several short-range pieces insatead of a FIDE Queen. How might a variant with a FIDE army v a (suitably arranged) Courier one play?
