Captured pieces switch between Xiang Qi and Shogi boards. (9x19, Cells: 171) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]Joe Joyce wrote on 2007-04-11 UTCCharles, a truly nice wrinkle. I've seen a few games of tournament Bughouse in a local chess cafe, and you have come up with a very pretty variant. Joshua Morris wrote on 2007-04-18 UTCGood ★★★★Imaginative! I (and many others, I'm sure) have often thought of playing Bughouse using Grand Chess or Capablanca Chess or something in place of OrthoChess, but I've never considered playing Bughouse with two different games. It's a fascinating idea. Personally, I think it would be even more interesting to allow captured pieces to retain their character on the new board rather than morphing to fit the game being played. I'd love to see Orthodox Chess played side-by-side with Shogi; imagine the horror on a Shogi player's face when his opponent drops a queen on the board. By the way, why not play Swedish chess with more than 4 players (6, 8, 10...), player can give captured pieces to either teammate! So we can join several games! My example (maybe, someone can suggest something better): Xiang-qi - Shogi - Chess (Capablanca or not) - Grand Acedrex - 3D chess - Shatar; Advisor - Gold - Queen - Gryphon - Empress - Bers; Minister - Silver - Bishop - Crocodile - Bishop - Camel (same as Bishop, NOT from Tamerlane chess); Horse - Laured rider - Knight - Giraffe - Knight - Horse; Chariot - Lance - Rook - Rook - Rook - Chariot; Cannon - Flying Chariot - Chanselor - Unicorn - Unicorn (triagonal rider, not same as previous) - Bodyguard; Cannon - Angle Walker - Archbishop - Lion - Unicorn (triagonal rider) - Bodyguard; Flowerman wrote on 2010-03-31 UTCWhat about this: play normal Bughouse, but players uses four Ralph Betza's different armies? I like comparison of Chess, Shogi, Xian-qi and Shatar, wich anonimous suggested, but i don't like anonimous with Grande Acedrex and 3-D chess. Maybe, compare Grande Acedrex with Courier chess: these games both have 12 files, pieces from one game becomes pieces from another game of same file. I don't know, what with 3-D chess, but it's interesting. Maybe, just play some 3-D variant without unicorns? 4 comments displayedEarlier ⇧Reverse Order⇩ LaterPermalink to the exact comments currently displayed.
