I fully agree with the (partial) quote in my previous post. I recall an exchange of comments that Fergus and I once had with Michael Howe, concerning his NOVA CHESS, a 10x10 'variant in progress'. I believe Michael was using a Queen + Leo piece, which is called a 'Brigadier' in this variant. This piece may be worth even more than an Amazon (Queen + Knight).

For example, the Tank could pin two pieces with its Cannon powers, then capture one and still keep the other pinned with its Rook powers, then capture the other one too. Also, you couldn't block a direct Tank attack, because it could just hop over the piece that tried to intervene.'
