'GHI,LargeCV': Chapter 5 furthers the Jump Gate and presents the Great Diagonal Wall, Pivot Points within the Ruins, Gridlock's Castle, and Bishops Work. 'With effective use of your Ruins, you can fortify holdings, control corners and block off passage through the Outer Row[gold].' 'It has always been my plan to introduce new levels to the game of Chess other than just stacking up boards. The other game promised you up to nine Queens. Did it ever deliver?' 'Knights of course can just jump right over but not on a locked Four Way.'

[Four years since Gridlock V's last giddy comment, so may as well repeat it.] Chapter Five of the series furthers the Jump Gate and presents the Great Diagonal Wall. ''With effective use of your Ruins, you can fortify holdings, control corners, and block off passage through the [gold] Outer Row.'' Pivot points within the Ruins and Gridlock's castle. ''The other game promised you up to nine Queens. Did it ever deliver? Knights of course can just jump right over but not on a locked Four Way.'' Stashes of big stars in certain places form the pivot of the jump gate, the only triggered castle function. Starting the timer would start the cold war, so instead put your pieces strategically to build it your way.

The answer to (1) is in Gilman's ''From Ungulates Outward.''
The answer to (2) is in Betza's ''Worth Than Worthless.''
The answer to (4) is here in Gridlock Chapter 5. It asks of the Jump Gate and the Great Diagonal Wall. See the section Setting Up Gridlock's Castle. ''The Castle is several things in one. First it's a wall. Second it's a resource of pieces. The other game promised you up to nine Queens. Did it ever deliver?'' When the four-way Castle is well strung across the board, it's called the Great Diagonal Wall. Anything along those lines, that the Jump Gate with its functions is part and parcel of the Castle of Gridlock.

Gridlock Chapter 5 has the Great Diagonal Wall.  "The other game promised you up to nine Queens. Did it ever deliver?"
