The models and rationale are not chess patents per se so much as games patents broadly like Scrabble and Monopoly. The proper question is not what the hack designer-dilettante thinks of patenting games. Instead, the question is what patent holders and traditional registered-copyright inventors think of the present junk game ethos and resultant bad game pollution.
