One addition to make the game even more in keeping with the Revolution would be for Pawn promotion to be to Ace - a piece combining Rook, Bishop, AND Knight moves, as in Cardmate. This would reflect that it was the French Revolution that made the Ace in cards the highest in its suit, to mark the victory of the common man.
