Buddhism spread from India to China, Japan, and Korea. Taoism and Confucianism, which began around the same time as Buddhism, did not migrate to India. If this is due to a general direction of cultural transmission, it adds to the likelihood that Xiangqi is of Indian origin rather than Chaturanga of Chinese origin.
