PASGL 312 Chess. Critters steal lunch in the forest, while trying to get close to the campfire and avoid the train. (Cells: 68) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

Another subvariant would be to add a row on each side and superimpose The Game of the Trees. Every piece can travel on grass, shrubbery, and trees equally (Perhaps a Shrew in the trees can't be squashed, or a Deer can eat grass and shrubbery...). Other than movement, trees would block everything. Just a suggestion.

Update (like six hours later): Perhaps This Game is for the Birds could be worked in too... The Ultimate Outdoor Trifecta Chess would be very strange indeed...

Neptune. A strange Chesslike game that was found in January of 2019. (Cells: 271) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

I thought it was one of the best battle variants I've seen.

Random Wormhole Chess. Introduces "wormholes" and "toroidal" movement in a fun and manageable way. (8x8, Cells: 64) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

I like it. It isn't the same at all as other wormhole variants.

Sudoku War. A fight that takes place in a Sudoku. (9x9, Cells: 81) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

Incredible idea! The only question is what should come next...

Penta War. Huge game with five clans. (17x17, Cells: 319) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

I like it. Two things to note.

1. Could a Queen push the last Pawn onto the last enemy pawn, which on the last rank, promoting it and tying the game?

2. You should make a fun variant with different armies for the clans.

Jupiter. Huge chess variant on 16 by 16 board. (16x16, Cells: 256) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

Overly large, not every piece described, some incongruencies (ie. West and East General, also not represented.)

8/13/13: Wow. Just wow. That was harsh. Why not pursue massive sizes of game? But, still, you need to fix the lack of pieces!
