One of our loyal readers has written to tell us that there is a shareware (Windows) version of this game available at:

http://www.vector.co.jp/soft/dl/win95/game/se094801.html

It is all in Japanese however.

Click on the download link (ƒ_ƒEƒ“ƒ[ƒh) for the game.

To play against the computer, choose the second option from the first menu.

Mats, I just created a link item and did not experience any problem. Could
you email me step-by-step details on what you did? Thanks!

David Howe wrote on Sun, May 17, 2009 04:04 PM UTC:
Hi Mats, you are not being ignored. I process email once a week (on
Mondays), so I hadn't read your email yet. I have deleted the external
link for Regiment Random Chess, so you can try again. Sorry for the buggy
software and slow response time. Please remember, this site is all
volunteer driven, so 'customer service' sometimes lapses a bit.

Hi Alan, why don't you post your designs here, and we'll see if we can integrate them into the Raumschach page? Or you can email them to us.

Yu Ren Dong,

Could you provide romanized titles for some of the books you mentioned. I found the ones for which you gave an ISBN, but for the others, I cannot read their titles or authors because the characters aren't displaying properly. Many thanks!

Hi Jean-Louis and Yu Ren Dong, I will have some time in the coming week to work on these two pages (The Game of Three Friends and The Game of Three Kingdoms). I will make your recommended changes, since you both are knowledgeable in this area. Thanks for your corrections.

When you save the index information, it does bring you to the edit content page, but it really has saved the index information. I just tried it. If it still isn't working, just let me know what index information you'd like to change and I'll test it with that information. Thanks!

David Howe wrote on Mon, Feb 9, 2009 05:14 PM UTC:
OK, should be fixed now. Please try again...

David -- what error are you getting? I just uploaded an image and edited the contents of my sample game page, and didn't get any errors. Please make sure you are using the links with the text:

'If you are the author of this page, your may edit index information or edit the contents of this page. You may also, if your page uses graphics, upload files.'

Thanks!

Adrian, you should be able to upload the new zip file and overwrite the old zip file (ie. give the zip file the same name as the old one). Let me know if that doesn't work.

Alfaerie Variant Chess Graphics. Set of chess variant graphics based on Eric Bentzen's Chess Alpha font.[All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

I would do it, but I suspect the skill level required to create vector-graphic versions of the bitmaps would be greater than my own skill level in that area (not to mention the time and energy required). I would be very pleased if someone who does have the necessary skill level and inclination, time and energy, would create a true-type font for Alfaerie.

Try this:

   /play/pbm/index.html

Looks like it may be that the cause is the .htaccess file. I will look
into it.

re: emailing all cvp members

I do have a list, and would be willing to send out an email (probably
emails, since I'd have to break it up into sections). I try not to send
emails out very often, but am willing to do so in this case. Just let me
know what you'd like to be in the email. Thanks!

FIDE laws of chess:

3.9 The king is said to be 'in check' if it is attacked by one or more of the opponent's pieces, even if such pieces are constrained from moving to that square because they would then leave or place their own king in check. No piece can be moved that will either expose the king of the same colour to check or leave that king in check.
