This 10x8 variant looks like it could also have been (coincidentally/unintentionally, in this instance) inspired by the (mirror image, i.e. Ks and Qs switched, along with Centaurs and Manns switched) setup for 12x8 Courier-Spiel (that is, without the ferfils used, in this 10x8 variant's case). In the case of my own 10x8 variant Hannibal Chess, I kept the ferfils in the setup, instead.
