String Chess is a one-dimensional chess variant, invented by Aron Wall. He writes:

Grasshopper		As a normal Grasshopper

Frog(Toad)	.^.^.^F^.^.^.^.	Ranging Bee
Dragonfly		Mouse + Frog
Queen	..Q..	Moves like Spider, Checkmate Target
