Emmor Ray Sperry, a cyberfriend of mine, invented and has marketed this very nice chess variant.

First king to reach the castle wins.

You are out if your king is captured, but your pieces remain on the board and may be captured normally.

Enemy pieces cannot land on the king's home square, but they may pass across it when it is empty.

If there are only two kings left, a captured king returns to his home square.

Pawns move only one square orthogonally in any direction, and can only capture other pawns.

I added a rule that if there are no captures in 25 complete turns, the game is a draw.

Chess Variants

These are simple illustrations rather than strong opponents.
