Tbe origins of Absorption Chess are unknown, but it is old.
In this version of Absorption Chess, when one non-royal piece (not a king or a pawn) captures another piece (not a pawn), it acquires the movement abilities of the captured piece. A pawn capturing a piece becomes a piece of that kind.
Having kings able to move like queens would be a game-spoiler.
These are simple illustrations rather than strong opponents.
