Pixelpusher: Modern chess

Here, the first applet ever that plays Modern Chess, a chess variant featuring a minister, which moves like bishop or knight.

You can play the variant with, or without the Bishops Conversion Rule:

Modern Chess by Maura Vicente

With the bishops conversion rule

This rule, invented by Carlos Cetina, states that one of the players bishops may and must make a one-step orthogonal move as its first move.

This only works with Java enabled browsers.
