I noticed what you meant about the painting finish.

I was wondering of the white dots myself. I figured that as part of the process of creating the pieces they were being held there (at the dots) by some other plastic sticks when the pieces were painted. The other side has no white dots. I'm planning to just paint the dots red and green myself.

If you find a nicer set of pieces (maybe made out of wood, but sold separately), yes I'm still interested.

I do not need a new Changgi board though.

That is the same board and pieces that I got from Korea a few months ago. I don't like the pieces much because the painters didn't do a good job of painting them and left out some spots. I am going to look for a nicer one while I am there in a few weeks. Does this mean you don't want me to find you one, Jose?

I just bought this same set today! at Korean Town, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

I bought it at a P.A.T. supermarket near Bloor St. West & Euclid St.

The pieces are sold separately from the board.

The plastic Changgi pieces are sold for $3.99 CAD, the board for $16.99 CAD featuring Changgi on one side and Baduk (Japanese Go) on the other.

The Go stones were $10.99 CAD for the (white and black) set.

The board and piece are all very good quality.

There are games available on ebay. I believe Korean Chess pieces are the same as Chinese Chess pieces, except that Korean chess pieces vary in size. Wooden Chinese Chess games are available on ebay.

I was wondering about any online sites where I might buy some really nice changgi pieces. I'm actually in Korea at the mo, but I'm finding it hard to find any pieces but the 'sturdy plastic ones.' Nice photos.... The board appears to be the one made made by 'Seven Brothers', a Korean manufacturer of Go/Weiqi boards. They have a website, www.7brother.com, but it's not very user-friendly unless you and your computer read Korean! Equipment like this can be had from large Korean supermarkets in Southern California... elsewhere, it's not easy. Personally, I'd like to find a source of somewhat nicer Korean Chess equipment, but so far have not succeeded.... if someone out there wants to buy equipment like that pictured, it can be had for around US$20 or less-- if there is really no on-line source, try e-mailing me at [email protected]: I usually go to Southern California once or twice a year.

something else i forgot to mention - when you click on the third thumbnail, the pic on the resulting webpage is actually *smaller* than the original thumbnail. this is definitely not right.
