Isn't it similar (or almost similar) to circular chess?

This is genuine 16x4 with cylindrical feature when or if flattened.

The inventor has sent us the following additional information: <p> I have a link showing images and info on Cube Chess and Chess Cubic at www.ausinvent.com On the left side at this site is 'online exhibition' that takes you to the games.

Thanks again for the feedback, the idea with this game was to have the
added challenge of the 4×16 format as an actual cube so you have to rotate
it to gain acces to the whole board.

May not be quite as practical as the conventional 4×16 format but it adds
that 3rd dimensional factor. May also be for sale soon along with Chess
Cubic.

this looks neat but i have trouble believing that this is more practical than simply playing on a 4x16 board.
