(8x8, Cells: 64) [All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]As I understand it, the cells through which a royally-restricted piece cannot move if attacked are those through which the piece ordinarily cannot move if occupied, which are the nearer destination cells. This does not affect a Knight, which has all its destination cells equidistant in different directions. It would affect a Nightrider or even a Rose, but only as regards cells an exact number of Knight moves along the path. I first saw this variant after submitting a Piececlopedia entry on which a link to this page would be relevant, but I will try and remember to add it in when I eventually submit an update.
