Siege chess - Photo's

In 1820, Senfft von Pillsach published a book (in the German language), on a chessvariant called Das Belagerungsschach, which means: The Siege Chess.

The board was formed by adding a fortress to the already then known board for four player chess, formed by adding three rows at each side of an eight by eight board. The book also refers to such a four-handed chess variant.
